CTIA-The Wireless Association® Selects Officers for 2008

SAN FRANCISCO, CA. - CTIA-The Wireless Association® President and CEO Steve Largent announced today that Verizon Wireless President and CEO, Lowell McAdam, has been elected the wireless industry trade group's new Chairman. Mr. McAdam, former Vice Chairman of CTIA, will assume the position of Chairman in January 2008.

The CTIA Board of Directors formally selected their officers and new members for 2008 while gathered in San Francisco for CTIA WIRELESS I. T. & Entertainment® 2007. Mr. McAdam, who became Verizon Wireless' CEO in the beginning of this year, succeeds Mr. Mike Kalogris of SunCom as CTIA Chairman.

"Mr. Kalogris' vision and leadership as the association's chairman over the past year has been nothing short of extraordinary," said Steve Largent, President and CEO of CTIA-The Wireless Association®. "He has consistently provided keen insight on a number of important wireless issues and has been a leader in the association's efforts to promote public policies and initiatives that benefit wireless consumers. Personally, I have enormous respect for him, and have thoroughly enjoyed working with him over the past four years," continued Largent.

"I also want to congratulate Lowell McAdam on his election to the Chairmanship. Since re-joining the board in 2006, Lowell has provided the association with strong, clear and consistent leadership on the most critical issues facing the industry. I am pleased that he will continue to provide this type of guidance and direction as our new Chairman."

Other CTIA officers elected at today's board meeting include: T-Mobile USA President and CEO Robert Dotson as Vice Chair, Alcatel-Lucent Mobility Solutions President Cindy Christy as Treasurer, Centennial Communications Corporation CEO Michael Small as Secretary, and SunCom CEO Michael Kalogris as Chairman Emeritus.

CTIA also elected 46 board members for 2008, including the following first-time members: Clearwire Corporation CEO Ben Wolff, Carolina West Wireless CEO Slayton S. Stewart, and Nex-Tech Wireless CEO and General Manager Johnie Johnson.

"It is a great honor to welcome these industry leaders to the board. Both individually and collectively, they bring a tremendous understanding of the wireless landscape to the board. I look forward to working with each of them as CTIA continues to aggressively pursue policies that benefit all wireless consumers," continued Largent.
