Proxim Wireless Enables Wi-Fi Access at the Daytona 500

San Jose, CA, - February 21, 2008 - Proxim Wireless Corporation (NASDAQ: PRXM: 0.95, +0.02, +2.15%), a leader in core-to-client solutions for metro-scale broadband wireless networks, today announced that it supplied broadband wireless equipment for the 50th running of the Daytona 500 during the DIRECTV Speedweeks event at Daytona International Speedway in Florida.

AllCity Wireless specified and deployed Proxim ORiNOCO AP-4000 MR-LR Access Points around the West End Camper Field of the track as well as one infield hot zone, and a Proxim Tsunami MP.11 for the network backhaul. Visitors to the Daytona 500 had access to the internet using Wi-Fi throughout the event.

"The Daytona 500 is NASCAR's biggest, richest and most prestigious race. Excitement reached a fever pitch as illustrated by the earliest sellout of 'The Great American Race' in modern history," stated Daryl Wolfe, chief marketing officer of International Speedway Corporation (ISC), a leading promoter of motorsports activities. "Our goal at ISC is to provide fans a superior, innovative and thrilling experience. Therefore, it was important that our guests have access to a quality, high speed wireless network, and Proxim Wireless and AllCity Wireless partnered to provide us a great solution."

"It has been extremely exciting working with ISC on this event. We knew that the network we deployed had to be robust, reliable and secure to cater to the high number of users expected to want internet access. We chose Proxim Wireless due to their extensive experience and deployments around the world in high density Wi-Fi deployments and their products worked flawlessly in a very challenging environment. The Proxim products' low power draw also allowed us to use a proprietary battery solution to power the access points for up to 5 days without maintenance," said Philip McQuade, President, AllCity Wireless.

"We are thrilled to be involved in such a celebrated event. Our wireless technology has once again demonstrated its robustness and performance," said Geoffrey Smith, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Proxim Wireless.
