ICO Mobile Television to Feature NBC Universal Content at International Consumer Electronics Show
RESTON, Va., Jan 08, 2008 -- ICO Global Communications (Holdings) Limited (NASDAQ: ICOG: 2.88, +0.01, +0.34%) today announced that it has entered into an agreement to utilize content from NBC Universal for the demonstration of its mobile television offering at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. ICO will demonstrate its ICO mim(TM: 104.98, +0.51, +0.48%) service in a sport utility vehicle that will travel the Las Vegas strip during the Show, as well as in an exhibition suite at the Venetian Hotel. The specially equipped ICO vehicle will feature live NBC Universal programming delivered utilizing DVB-SH over ICO's 2 GHz S band frequencies.
"ICO mim has attracted leading companies to develop this next-generation mobile television technology, and now this agreement with NBC Universal adds world-class content that will demonstrate the compelling value proposition we'll be offering," commented Tim Bryan, ICO chief executive officer. "We look forward to displaying NBC Universal content during our alpha trial later this year, and we appreciate NBC Universal's leadership in new video technologies."
ICO mim is a converged mobile media service that addresses a wide variety of consumer entertainment, information, and two-way communication needs: live and stored mobile TV in vehicles, interactive navigation, and roadside assistance, all with nationwide coverage. ICO mim will provide multiple channels of high-quality mobile video to portable, larger-screen (4.5 to 10 inch) user devices. ICO's North American Satellite, ICO G1, is set for launch in March 2008, and alpha trials of the ICO mim service are set for Las Vegas and Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina by mid-year.
NBC Universal is also serving as the Official Broadcast Partner of the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show.
