GAMEVIL Presents In-Game Advertising on Mobile Games

Los Angeles, CA - Most people are already familiar with seeing in-game advertising in online and console games, whether on billboards in the background or on the sides of buildings. But seeing ads in mobile games is something that has been recently introduced to the market and is now on the rise in Korea.

GAMEVIL has already had a head start in this trend with its popular Baseball Superstars 2008 game. With several advertisers such as Coca-Cola displaying their brands and products in the background of the baseball field, the ads add a realistic appeal of attending a live game where it is common to see banners hanging all around the stadium. Some of the traits that make in-game advertising so attractive in Baseball Superstars 2008 are that the game is a top seller and has already reached 500,000 downloads within 2 months of going live. It is not difficult to see why the opportunity to reach 500,000 viewers caught the eyes of many companies looking to advertise. One of the interesting features of this in-game advertising is that the ads are not fixed, with rotations of ads done monthly. Thus, other companies are given the opportunity to have their ads appear in the game.

From a different angle, GAMEVIL has also reached out for other opportunities to create greater awareness around their games. Haitai, one of the top snack companies in Korea, has agreed to have GAMEVIL’s Baseball Superstars 2008 ads placed on 15 million of their popular Homerun Ball, a Korean snack that sells around 5 million each month. Going along with the baseball theme, Haitai will also have ads of their Homerun Ball snacks show up in Baseball Superstars 2008.

“We’re really excited to have in-game advertising hit the mobile platform,” said Stephanie Huang, Marketing Manager of GAMEVIL USA, Inc. “Mobile advertising is the new wave of advertising that will begin to earn the spotlight as it establishes its presence not only in mobile games, but also on the mobile platform as a whole. In-game advertising is just one of the first steps to a rising trend that is already becoming more prevalent as companies begin to turn their attention to reaching out to consumers on the mobile platform.”
