IGT-UK Acquires Million-2-1
IGT-UK today announces that it has acquired Manchester-based mobile gaming company Million-2-1. The acquisition cements the strategic relationship developed between the two companies over the past two years, and marks IGT-UK’s entry into the mobile gaming market.
Million-2-1 is the UK’s premier provider of interactive competition, lottery and SMS games on the mobile phone and has recently commenced development of Java-based mobile versions of a number of Barcrest Group’s industry-renowned slot machine games.
As a result of this transaction, Chris Sheffield, CEO of Million-2-1, will take up a new role with IGT-UK as Director and General Manager of the company’s remote gaming business, reporting to Robert White, IGT-UK Managing Director. In this role, Chris will retain responsibility for Million-2-1 as well as managing the interests of IGT-UK in interactive digital television, mobile gaming and Internet gaming markets.
Robert White commented: “IGT-UK is delighted to announce this acquisition, which, in conjunction with the recently announced Cyberview acquisition, marks a significant step forward in our strategy to develop new markets and new routes to market for our market-leading game content.
Chris Sheffield added: “We are tremendously excited at joining such a successful and innovative international business. This is a “dream come true deal” for our business and will allow real focus on developing and marketing new products for the internet and mobile phone, using the powerful combination of new technologies plus great gaming concepts from both IGT-UK and Million-2-1. Million-2-1 has received tremendous support from its funders in Manchester and London and I would like to thank them for their support."
Robert White summarised: “We have enjoyed a successful relationship with Million-2-1 over the past two years and the time is now right for us to join forces to capitalise on the exciting growth opportunities in remote gaming markets. I look forward to working with Chris Sheffield and his team over the coming years to build a strong and successful remote gaming business”.
