MobileAware Helps Mobilize Avon and Somerset Police
Dublin, Ireland - June 12 2008 - MobileAware, the leading provider of Mobile Customer and Employee Self Service solutions, today announced Avon and Somerset Police have recently increased their deployment of mobile data services to some 450 frontline officers. MobileAware’s Smart IP communication software enabled a number of existing Avon and Somerset Police applications to be ‘mobilized’ very quickly, simply and economically, including:
• Access to command and control incident logs
• Access to PNC person and vehicle searches
• Access to Quick address voters checks
• Access to custody photo records
• Use of the camera for evidence gathering
• Access to the Force's data warehouse
• Access to email and calendar
Simply placing the Smart IP software in front of Web based applications enabled them to be accessed by officers in the field using hand held mobile devices to improve efficiency and extend the time spent out of the station.
Avon and Somerset Police are investigating the option to utilize MobileAware’s ExpressQ software for the next phase of their mobile data roll out which will see an increase in the services provided. ExpressQ will enable Avon and Somerset’s IT team to develop new applications that will add further benefit to the field based officers and which will also be deployed as part of an in-vehicle mobile data solution. The ExpressQ software will allow the field based officers to work in an on-line/off line mode, thus negating the requirement to always be in cellular coverage. The solution will allow the officers to access data over Cellular or the Government approved Tetra network and will switch data seamlessly across networks. Avon and Somerset will be able to prioritise which application uses which particular channel and also allow priority based upon the critical importance of the data that is needed to be sent to the field based officer.
