May Edition of the "Wonder of Wireless" Webcast Now Available
Washington, DC - CTIA - The Wireless Association® announced today that the May edition of the "Wonder of Wireless" (WOW) webcast is now available. The webcast can be accessed at http://www.ctia.org/consumer_info/wow/index.cfm/2008/5/ and includes several video segments that highlight a variety of wireless-related topics involving the mobile enterprise, emergency rescues, significant public policy milestones, and much more.
The May WOW webcast features the Paulding County School District in Atlanta, Georgia, and its innovative use of wireless and GPS technology to revolutionize its bus fleet management. District officials, bus drivers, and parents discuss the benefits they are gaining from improved efficiency and safety through cutting-edge wireless technology.
The Insider Interview segment goes one-on-one with Lowell McAdam, Verizon Wireless President & CEO and CTIA Chairman, who talks about the industry's awareness campaign and its efforts to establish a national framework for wireless regulation. McAdam also discusses the industry's move toward more open networks. The Wireless Lifesaver story recounts the heroic efforts of a sharp-eyed Minnesota man whose cell phone use led to the apprehension of car thieves in his neighborhood, and this month's Policy Point focuses on the popularity of various wireless payment plans.
Another element of the May WOW webcast is the #6 U.S. Wireless Moment, as selected by visitors to http://www.ctia.org.; Hollywood legend, Hedy Lamarr, helps invent a "spread spectrum" approach to communications in 1940, which later became the foundation for secure military communications, CDMA cell phone technology, and WiFi.
