Red Bend Software Earns MobileVillage's Mobile Star Award
Waltham, MA - Red Bend Software, the market leader in Mobile Software Management (MSM), today announced that it has won a Gold Mobile Star Award from MobileVillage®, the 15-year leader in market development and news services about mobile technology. Red Bend's vCurrent® Mobile for firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updating received the most votes in the category of "Operator Software: Application Delivery.” The seventh annual Mobile Star Awards(TM) program honors and promotes the top companies, products, deployments, and leaders in mobile and wireless technology. Winners are chosen by subscribers to Go Mobile®, MobileVillage's free email newsletter that is sent to technology executives, mobile professionals, IT managers, developers and top-tech journalists.
"Despite the economic slowdown, recent studies have predicted minimal impact on the mobile and wireless industry,” says MobileVillage Editor Gary Thayer. "There is a real desire to discover the latest and greatest mobile technology, and this continued interest will fuel the industry. This year we had a record 2,300 votes from MobileVillage readers who are eager to share their knowledge.”
Red Bend's market-leading vCurrent Mobile software continues to gather accolades as manufacturers across the globe increasingly adopt this innovative approach to remotely updating software on mobile devices. The solution, deployed in more than 365 million phones worldwide, minimizes product recalls and customer support while improving the mobile user experience through FOTA updates. vCurrent Mobile includes industry firsts such as Background Updating, which gives consumers access to the full use of their handsets while the firmware is being updated in the background. Additionally, Revertible Updates give operators new revenue opportunities by allowing them to offer new applications and features during trial periods and then removing the software OTA if the consumer does not subscribe.
"This recognition from MobileVillage shows the increased value placed on FOTA software,” said Yoram Salinger, CEO of Red Bend Software. "FOTA is now considered a must-have feature, available in nearly half of all handsets and growing. Red Bend's vCurrent Mobile is the market-share leader in FOTA, enabling manufacturers and operators around the world to deliver software improvements and new features that keep consumers satisfied with their mobile devices.”
