WirelessDevNet.com Press Release
Qasara Demonstrates Virtual LTE Mobile at LTE World Summit
Cambridge, UK - Qasara (www.qasara.com) today announces availability of its Virtual LTE Mobile, a new product which will significantly accelerate the development of infrastructure and terminal equipment to the 3GPP LTE standard. Qasara’s product, developed in collaboration with Rohde & Schwarz (www.rohde-schwarz.com), incorporates a fully instrumented LTE protocol stack, emulating an LTE mobile device.
Qasara’s Virtual LTE Mobile is fully interoperable with the Rohde & Schwarz's 3GPP LTE Virtual Tester, providing a coherent platform for infrastructure and terminal software development. Qasara’s Virtual LTE Mobile is supplied with Qasara’s unique integrated tool-chain, offering unparalleled internal visibility, to aid diagnosis of interworking and interoperability issues.
Qasara’s implementation allows peer-to-peer testing of the complex interactions and data flows between the LTE Medium Access Control (MAC), Radio Link Control (RLC) and Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) Layers, all configured via Access Stratum and Non-Access Stratum control plane procedures.. Customers can benefit from the ongoing development and interoperability testing of Qasara’s LTE protocol stack through service packs delivered as the 3GPP LTE standard matures. Multiple instances of Qasara’s Virtual LTE Mobile can be run together to allow development and testing of the complex load balancing and scheduling algorithms required in LTE infrastructure. Qasara’s product can accelerate the development of interoperable LTE products without the complexity, unreliability and cost of prototype hardware.
"This product is a result of the excellent partnership we have with Rohde & Schwarz," stated Michael Barkway, Chief Executive at Qasara. "This product enables technology developers to put an independent reference design on the desk of every engineer building LTE products.”
“Qasara’s Virtual LTE Mobile gives our customers access to Qasara’s LTE protocol implementation, with proven interoperability and a roadmap of enhancements added as the LTE standard matures. The ability of our integrated tool-chain to plot live message sequence charts, memory utilisation and perform automated testing makes this a very powerful system that can really enhance engineering productivity,” added Rob Meades, Chief Operations Officer at Qasara.
"The R&S LTE Virtual Tester provides a unique test solution for verification of LTE UE protocol stack software. The partnership with Qasara is very valuable as it helps us to verify interoperability with the latest 3GPP standard versions," said Thomas Moosburger, head of R&D LTE protocol testers of Rohde & Schwarz.
Qasara’s Virtual LTE Mobile operates standalone, with a customer’s test peer, or can be used together with the Rohde & Schwarz 3GPP LTE Virtual Tester. The product is available now and can be purchased with maintenance and support on a site-wide basis. Qasara’s Virtual LTE Mobile will be on show at the LTE World Summit in London from 17th - 20th November, working alongside the Rohde & Schwarz 3GPP LTE Virtual Tester.
