FleetMatics Enhances GPS Vehicle Tracking Services

FleetMatics a provider of GPS vehicle tracking systems for any size business operating a fleet of vehicles, announces today the release of a new software upgrade to its flagship GPS service. The FleetMatics GPS Vehicle Tracking system already includes features that customers applaud for ease-of-use and in-depth reporting functions. With this release, FleetMatics provides several key enhancements that will increase flexibility and ultimately give fleet owners more power to control their fleets.

These enhancements will be delivered remotely and at no cost to current FleetMatics clients.

Jim Travers, CEO of FleetMatics explains: “With our previous release, FleetMatics created an exceptional management tool that gave SME fleet owners an easy, cost-effective way to control their mobile assets. The new software upgrade builds on that success to provide improved functionality, increased ease of use, and additional reporting capabilities.”

Fleet owners can use the FleetMatics software to monitor and track their vehicles online via GPS. The new upgrades resulted from direct client input to reflect how fleet owners use the system to maximise productivity and reduce costs.

A “My Preferences” feature now allows for unmatched personalisation. Fleet owners can set defaults for a wide variety of software functions including new graphical displays for the popular “Dashboard” feature, reporting automation, and preferences for the live tracking and route replay maps. In addition to the current alerting functions for excessive speed and unauthorised journeys, the system now alerts fleet owners when vehicles idle longer than specified limits. Alerts can also be viewed during live tracking or sent via email.

Travers concludes: “With the recent economic downturn, fleet owners need every advantage available to reduce costs. Our new free software upgrades will help our users do just that.”
