Kodiak Networks Announces Downloadable Push-to-Talk
Dallas, Texas - October 28, 2008 - Mobile solutions innovator, Kodiak Networks(R) announced today a new suite of downloadable and pre-loadable Push-to-Talk (PTT) applications using BREW(R), Symbian OS(TM) and Windows Mobile(R) operating systems (OS). Wireless carriers can enable end users to use their existing handset for PTT sessions by downloading the PTT application over-the-air (OTA) or by pre-loading the PTT client onto their new handset.
Kodiak Downloadable PTT has very similar feature functionality to embedded PTT, therefore maintaining a robust user experience. Using the programmable key on the side of the phone, wireless users make a short push to bring up the PTT contact list, scroll to select the contact or group name, then press and hold to initiate the PTT call.
With this announcement, Kodiak now offers wireless carriers three PTT options: Kodiak PTT (embedded client), Kodiak Downloadable PTT (downloadable/pre-loadable client) and Kodiak Clientless PTT (PTT originator can PTT to any mobile or landline phone on any network). These downloadable/pre-loadable PTT applications enable carriers to deploy more PTT-capable handsets and therefore increase their number of PTT subscribers.

MetroPCS is the first carrier to offer Kodiak Downloadable PTT on three BREW-based handsets including the ZTE C78, ZTE C79 and Kyocera S4000. MetroPCS customers have the ability to PTT to ChatLINK subscribers or non-subscribers using a combination of Kodiak embedded, clientless and downloadable clients.
