WirelessDevNet.com Press Release
Mobile Flirting Twice as Prevalent on Mainstream Handsets Than iPhone According to FunMobility
Pleasanton, CA – The iPhone is great for many things but apparently not mobile flirting. That's what a recent mobile flirting study conducted by FunMobility found. The leading provider of innovative wireless community and media services today released new data based on more than 635,000 messages sent by mostly single young Americans over its popular America's Best Mobile Pix (APIX) application, showing that when it comes to mobile flirting, simple handsets are more handy.
The messages were accumulated from users who either left a note on someone's profile, sent a private message, or left a message on someone's chat wall. All messages were recorded during APIX-skin contests conducted during the month of January 2009, which let users rate pictures, submit into contests, and post messages to other members of the APIX photo sharing community. According to the study, the average iPhone user sent approximately 60 messages compared to 175 messages a day from all other users. Additionally Tuesday has been found to be the most popular day for mobile flirting giving users something to think about before 'hump-day.'
The service also allowed its community to vote on profiles and determine the most attractive singles with surprising results.

"Profile picture sharing applications have provided a major growth area to our business," said Adam Lavine, CEO of FunMobility. "Although this goes against the obvious popularity of the iPhone, and data that we felt would show a clear preference for the iPhone as a mobile dating platform, our general handset users were far more likely to send messages and flirt with one another in a lead-up to this Valentine's Day."
America's Best Mobile Pix™ is the first mobile photo community application of its kind, which lets users connect with one another through fun and telling picture categories. Now, pictures can say a thousand words everywhere you go, as long as you have your mobile phone. Users can take photos using their camera phone, and submit them into contests such as Hottest Girl, Hottest Guy, Cutest Baby, Best Pet, Coolest Ride, Funniest Pix, and other sponsored contests.
According to a recent report by Juniper Research, the value of the mobile dating and chatroom market is expected to grow to nearly $1.4 billion by 2013. The firm also claims that the total UGC market will reach $7.3 billion by the same time.
FunMobility's direct-to-consumer website, FunMo.com, powers the APIX application, which can be downloaded directly from http://www.funmo.com, or from the iTunes Store for only $1.99.
