CleverTexting : Smoother Typing Experience on Your Mobile Phone

I can take a fine guess that your name is not "Tklszjk" or "Qotvke". But you could be reading a novel whose central character is Anades, or wearing a shirt whose brand is Rotochi, or you could live in a city called "Brentshire" - well all of these are possible and the others not possible.

There is actually a narrow spectrum of possibilities over which all the words that we use fall under. Both dictionary words and proper nouns, names of people and places. These are also the words that you may come to type on your mobile phone, a limited keypad device, which cant fit all the characters of the alphabet at once and hence has to adopt various devious ways to get the job done.

CleverTexting uses this insight on the nature of languages to make the predictions as you type. And it does so very accurately. It is a dictionary less system and in fact is so lightweight that is has no dictionary in it. CleverTexting does the prediction based on the statistical nature of a particular language which is essentially the popular phonemes and syllabary extant in a language, that works very well.

Developed in India, CleverTexting also introduces a paradigm shift into how we use the mobile keypad, because in this model, there are no letters printed on the keypad. You only look at the screen and type, as the screen keeps making predictions that you choose from in single keystrokes. The experience is new and after a small while you are already typing very fast, always with a single keystroke. No multi-tapping, no wrong word suggestions. No changing modes.

CleverTexting places the next keys that you are most likely to use at positions which are easiest for your thumb to reach and takes care to ask whether your phone is on the Right hand or Left and places accordingly. There are several modes to choose from, one in which the keys are assigned positions according to the old system of keypad if you are habituated to that one.

CleverTexting was released only on the 31st Dec 2008. So if you are reading it you are reading a hot new way of how we could be typing on our phones in the future.

One can also have a feel of the technology by downloading a java implementation that could run on your phone. The website is http://www.CleverTexting.com

CleverTexting also offers to compress your SMS so you can pack in more text into your same message for the same cost. They are not sure if they are the first ones to be offering such an implementation of SMS compression.
