ASiQ Ltd. Announces iPhone App Could Replace In-Flight Phone Systems
ASiQ Limited the developers of the patented SafeCell cell phone system for aircraft, announced today they commissioned the world’s first iPhone in flight cell phone Bluetooth App on a Business Jet.
Ron Chapman, ASiQ’s CEO stated, “this is a very important milestone for the company, as in order to effectively test the system you need to test it on an aircrafts satellite link. We are very excited with the results of the test and this App is truly unique. Not only does it deliver voice and data services, but it can eliminate the requirement for existing telephone handsets and antiqued PABX systems which can cost over $30,000. The test system comprised both an iPhone and iPad version connected via the Global Iridium satellite network. Following the successful testing we have submitted the App to Apple for approval.”
The iPhone and iPad test platform was commissioned on Citation VII operated by Global Jet International. Global Jet International is a Corporate Aircraft Charter company based out of the Gold Coast Airport and is the launch customer for the system. The aircraft is scheduled for permanent installation later this year.

SafeCell is an Application (App) on your mobile phone that operates in "flight mode" and uses Bluetooth to emulate the normal functions of your mobile phone such as Voice, SMS, MMS and Data.
