WirelessDevNet.com Press Release

Synapse Launches Wireless DMX Control

Synapse Wireless® announced today the release of the SNAP DMX product for wirelessly connecting and controlling DMX lighting devices. SNAP DMX adapters are based on the DMX512 (Digital Multiplex) standard communications protocol. SNAP DMX also supports the wide range of third-party software and hardware devices based on modern enhancements such as USB DMX (for fast, efficient control of DMX devices from PCs).

"SNAP DMX is ideally suited for situations where cabling is either too expensive or impossible to use," said Patrick Durand, Future Lighting Solutions Worldwide Technical Director. "With reliable signal quality, easy setup and long-range capability, SNAP DMX offers the best, affordable, lighting control solution. SNAP DMX is a valuable addition to our growing family of intelligent lighting products."

With the increasingly noisy environment of WiFi, Bluetooth and other potential sources of radio interference, data fidelity is critical when replacing a wired solution. Based on direct-sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) transmission, SNAP DMX provides the highest levels of signal integrity and doesn't suffer the latency penalty of frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) typically used in early-generation systems.

Based on Synapse's award-winning mesh network, SNAP DMX adapters can work over long distances and act as repeaters by re-transmitting the data to other DMX adapters.

Each adapter can auto-detect its role and operate as either a transmitter or receiver -- so only one model is needed. SNAP DMX units can be combined to span up to 16 Universes with up to 96 DMX channels each, allowing for a large array of DMX devices to be simultaneously controlled. All SNAP DMX adapters come with built-in security that can be used to prevent unwanted intrusions from adversely affecting the network.

"SNAP DMX provides the longest, most reliable range in the industry, a high level of network security and support for a growing family of third-party products," said Wade Patterson, CEO of Synapse Wireless. "SNAP DMX is designed to make wireless lighting control easy."

Packaged in a rugged metal casing, SNAP DMX offers versatility in mounting options at a size that is easily disguised in most settings. And the flexible terminal block is compatible with three pin or five pin DMX connections. SNAP DMX installs without the need to modify existing equipment. The unit measures H1.2" x W2.5" x L3.5" and weighs only 6.25 oz.

Pricing and Availability

The new SNAP DMX wireless adapter for connecting and controlling DMX devices is available now from Future Electronics with a MSRP of $179.00. Part number is LP500-001. Volume discounts are available. Visit: www.FutureLightingSolutions.com
