Dutch MVNO Intercity Zakelijk Partners with Nokia Siemens Networks

Intercity Zakelijk, a Dutch mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) for business customers in the Netherlands, will soon be able to offer new features and differentiated services. The operator has awarded Nokia Siemens Networks a long-term contract to design, implement and support its complete mobile core network. Nokia Siemens Networks’ technology and services will allow Intercity Zakelijk to differentiate itself by providing services more rapidly and flexibly.

“Our aim is to deliver differentiated services that fully meet the expectations of our business customers,” said Nick Buckley, chief executive officer, Intercity Zakelijk. “Having our own mobile core network allows us to do this faster and more flexibly. Nokia Siemens Networks with its expertise in core networks and consulting services is the right partner for us to ensure service satisfaction for our customers.”

“Intercity Zakelijk’s small and medium-sized business customers will also be able to enjoy the sorts of services available to large organizations. These include automatic offload of voice and data traffic onto customers’ office Wi-Fi networks, and customized packages for different user groups within an enterprise,” added Dennis de Boer, the customer account manager at Nokia Siemens Networks. “Our full mobile core network offering will help Intercity differentiate itself better from competition, improve customer loyalty and grow its subscriber base.”

Under the contract, Nokia Siemens Networks will plan, design and implement its full mobile core network, including open mobile softswitches* and Evolved Packet Core (EPC)**. The company will also deploy its subscriber data management and repositories, operations support system (OSS), billing mediation, and value added services platform, supporting up-to-date GSM and 3G core networks. In addition, the company will support Intercity Zakelijk’s network operations and provide care services.
