WirelessDevNet.com Press Release

Mobile Commerce Launches Train Times app

Utilising National Rail Enquires’ definitive information on all passenger rail services on the National Rail network in England, Wales and Scotland, Train Times provides live departure and arrival boards for all National Rail stations, and a full live journey planner for rail routes across the UK.

Train Times is the first app of its kind to provide full integration with Blackberry calendar and email. Once planned, a journey can be saved into the calendar, reminders set and an email detailing the journey can be sent to colleagues, friends or relatives.

The app also features a ‘My Commute’ function, which acts as a personalised live departure board. The user simply sets up a ‘home’ and ‘work’ station so they can quickly and easily check the live status of trains to or from work.

As well as offering the type of travel information you’d find on a website, the app uses handset location to display the nearest stations, and includes a real-time progress indicator to show train progress for your selected station.

All of this is tailored for use with all touch-screen and non-touch BlackBerry handsets running OS 5.0 or later.

Steve Page, Mobile Commerce CEO, said: “We’re delighted to bring the Train Times app to BlackBerry App World. We’ve already had success bringing National Rail Enquires to other mobile platforms, now BlackBerry users can benefit from the unique level of service it provides.

“Mobile Commerce is continuously looking to improve the mobile user’s experience, making information quicker and easier to access and, most importantly for mobile, concise.

“We enjoy meeting the challenge of tailoring an app for each of the numerous platforms, app stores and handsets. In bringing the Train Times app to BlackBerry App World we’ve met those challenges, and even more rail travellers can now plan their journeys quickly and efficiently on the move.”

The Train Times app is priced at £4.99 and is available here from BlackBerry App World.
