xAD Hires Chi-Chao Chang, Former Yahoo! GM and VP of Global-Search Business
Local-mobile advertising network, xAD, today announced the hire of Chi-Chao Chang as its president of products and technology. An industry veteran of 20 years in search and product development, Chang comes to xAD from Yahoo!, where he was general manager and vice president of global-search operations. With the addition of Chang, xAD will continue to advance its ad-serving technology and establish itself as the leader in local mobile performance advertisements.

BIA/Kelsey projects that local mobile advertising will increase from a $404 million industry in 2010 to a $2.8 billion industry by 2015, representing 51 percent of all mobile ads. xAD has seen its own share of growth in 2011. In June, xAD announced that, when having compared year-over-year traffic for January to May, traffic levels had increased by more than 550 percent across its network of mobile-local search sites and applications.
As xAD’s president of products and technology, Chang is charged with all facets of product and technology development, including overall strategy, identification of new customer segments, management of the existing performance-products portfolio and advancement of a vibrant local mobile marketplace.
With Chang’s expertise, xAD’s technology will be launched to the next level. He’ll develop a team of engineers to keep its technology ahead of the curve, and continue to develop its algorithm to provide better results for advertisers and publishers.
At Yahoo!, Chang was recently responsible for the company's global-search marketplace operations and managed the relationship with Microsoft. He held various leadership roles throughout his 12-year tenure there, including overseeing the search-advertising-products division where he led the development of ad platforms. Even earlier in his career, he was a pioneer and innovator of search technology at Yahoo!, as evidenced in the construction of the first high-volume, peer-reviewed search engine.
