Txtlocal Aay Mobile is Vital for the Leisure Industry in the Run up to School Holidays

With the school summer holidays looming, many leisure and entertainment businesses responsible for keeping students occupied throughout the 6 week long national break are seeing substantial growth with mobile marketing campaigns. Mobile marketing and communications Txtlocal, work with a large variety of businesses in this sector, from gyms and sports clubs, to theme parks and leisure centres.

Managing Director Darren Daws said “More people than ever before are accessing information online via their phones and using them to research the best places to go for days out, or for fun activities. Today, businesses need mobile to support their overall marketing strategies and use messaging as the main force driving customers to the mobile internet sites. For the leisure and entertainment industry, mobile works perfectly as businesses can communicate instant promotional offers, discounts and grow opt-in databases for as little as 2.5p.”

Txtlocal client The Nike Group have found huge success with sending bulk SMS. The Nike Group encompasses a wide range of businesses from the luxury Coppid Beech Hotel through to ski slopes, ice rinks and manufacturing. They needed a form of communication that was more instant than email and cheaper than direct mail to send text messages to customers and to communicate with staff. Text was their answer. In one of their ski lesson promotions, The Nike Group targeted 100 opt-in customers costing them under £5 with a SMS containing details of the discounted offer. They received a total of £500 worth of bookings, giving a return on investment of 100:1.

James Plumer, Ski Centre Manager for the Nike Group of Companies said, “We are delighted with the results we’ve experienced from mobile marketing. It is a useful means to target customers accurately and appropriately, and although we still use other elements of the marketing mix to promote our business, we are pleased that mobile is helping to drive our business forward with specific, measurable and cost effective campaigns”.

International Paintballing company Delta Force have also experienced success with Txtlocal’s mobile services. Seamus Fraser at Delta Force said, “The phone is the way of the modern world that we live in. Everyone is mobile these days – it’s an immediate technology that produces immediate results. Nowadays every consumer is mobile savvy is has become accustomed to receiving information, discounts and promotions via their phone. SMS promotions are amongst the most successful promotions that we run. Over the years we have trialled sending promotions at various times and on various days and we are confident that we now have a perfect model.”

Daws added, “Businesses are not limited to sending 160 character text messages anymore. With Txtlocal, using our user-friendly system they can design mobile web pages for free, or we can produce a mobile website or brochure in-house, and use SMS to circulate them. For example a theme park could design a mobile brochure showcasing different rides or attractions, and send it straight to the palms of customers’ hands. Businesses can be extremely creative with mobile and the leisure and entertainment industry should be leading the way.”
