Esri Introduces ArcGIS App for Windows Phone 7
Aylesbury, 17thMarch 2011 - Esri UK, the country’s leading provider of geographic information systems (GIS) technology, has announced that Esri has expanded its ArcGIS offering to include a free Windows Phone 7 App. Esri UK has confirmed that an Android beta version is also in development; once launched ArcGIS will be available on all major mobile platforms.
The new ArcGIS App allows all Microsoft Windows Phone 7 users to download sophisticated mapping capabilities on their mobile device, including the ability to use and share maps as well as deploy GIS data and functionality. For Esri customers, the ArcGIS for Windows Phone 7 App serves as a mobile gateway to their corporate ArcGIS system to find places and addresses, query map and business data and collect, edit and update features.
“Enterprise mobility is critical for today’s workforce, and Esri’s new Windows Phone App extends the ArcGIS system onto Microsoft's new platform. The free app is now available and can be downloaded directly from the Windows Marketplace.
