Baraka Telecom, the First dedicated Mobile Virtual Network Enabler in Asia was Launched Today

Baraka Telecom, the first dedicated Mobile Virtual Network Enabler (MVNE) in Asia was launched today in Kuala Lumpur. This marks an expansion of Reach Telecom Group headquartered in Kuwait into Asia.

Founded in 2008, Baraka Telecom offers the first dedicated MVNE solution in Asia and have invested in Tier-1 carrier grade Core Network, Operational Support Systems, and Business Support Systems equipment and solutions to support the growing interest from established brands and various community groups to establish MVNOs in this region. They have set up a one stop centre to assist all global MVNOs with the business strategy, planning and regulatory aspects also if required.

Baraka Telecom can enable all MVNOs throughout Asia, irrespective of size, to decrease the time to market, and offer substantially more flexible platforms and services to their target segments of each mobile market. Every MVNO is different and has different requirements. The Baraka MVNE solution was built with this in mind.

A mobile virtual network enabler (MVNE) is a B2B company which offers the ability for an MVNO to focus on their core strengths of brand, customer loyalty and marketing and leave the back-end enablement and operations to the MVNE.

A mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) is a B2C company that buys network capacity from a mobile network operator (MNO), and potentially leverages the presence of a MVNE, in order to offer their own branded mobile subscriptions and value-added services.

Mohammad Al-Sayegh, Chairman and Board member of Baraka Telecom, said, "We are pleased to announce the official launch of the company in Malaysia. We see tremendous growth opportunity in the mobile telecommunication sector in Asia. As mobile market matures in this part of the world with over 100% penetration in some countries, this provides an opportunity for MVNOs to flourish with innovative ideas with the right brand appeal. Mobile consumer today demands more than just basic voice and SMS, and prefers to be part of an affinity group that shares the same interest, content and services".
