WirelessDevNet.com Press Release

Navizon Unveils Indoor Positioning System

Navizon Inc., a leading provider of geolocation technology, today unveiled Navizon Indoor Triangulation System (I.T.S.). With the addition of Navizon I.T.S. to its global positioning technology combining GPS, Wi-Fi and cellular signals, Navizon is the first company to offer a Global Micropositioning solution.

"Navizon I.T.S. breaks new ground in the location industry adding room-level indoor location to Navizon's global positioning solution," says Cyril Houri, founder and CEO of Navizon. "We call the combination of these two technologies Global Micropositioning because they allow for precise and easy-to-read geolocation anywhere in the world - outdoors and indoors. It closes the location information gap left from prior technologies."

The creators of Navizon I.T.S. are the same technology developers who patented and added Wi-Fi and cellular triangulation to satellite-based location technology, which is used every day on most mobile devices around the world. The team also created the first I.P. address-based location technology for online businesses in the early 2000s, a technology that now is ubiquitous.

According to Houri, the potential applications for Navizon I.T.S. are extensive and powerful:

  • Positioning: Pinpoint your location within a building, campus or other venue (Where am I?)
  • Tracking Systems: Businesses or individuals can track the whereabouts of a specific device in an indoor environment (Where is he/she?)
  • Monitoring and Surveillance: Retail stores and shopping malls can map consumer traffic patterns and habits electronically; government buildings, monuments and corporate campuses can monitor crowd movement and potential security risks (How many people are here and what are their traffic patterns?)

Navizon I.T.S. tracks the location of all Wi-Fi enabled smart phones, tablets and laptops in realtime and with room-level accuracy without requiring the installation of an app on the device. The location determination is performed by small Navizon devices, called "nodes." Navizon's I.T.S. nodes are located within 100 feet of each other covering a three dimensional area, such as a multi-story building or multi-building campus.

According to Houri, "No wiring or complicated set-up is necessary. The nodes are strategically arranged to ensure reliable triangulation, and plug into an electrical outlet for power, automatically configuring into a wireless network."

Once a node network is in place, Navizon I.T.S. constantly computes the locations of all Wi-Fi enabled devices in the area and securely delivers them as a cloud service to the network owner. The location of wireless devices can either be displayed on a browser window with Navizon's user interface or accessed via an Application Programming Interface.

While Navizon ITS system can monitor movement or traffic patterns, no personal information transmits over the system and identity privacy remains intact. Organizations like hospitals that need to know the location of its employees can choose to enable an identity feature.

Navizon I.T.S. sites will also benefit users of the existing Navizon mobile app, which provides accurate positioning anywhere using a combination of GPS satellite signals, neighboring Wi-Fi hotspots, and cell phone tower signals. By installing the Navizon app on their mobile, users are able to combine Navizon-One's global positioning capability with the Navizon I.T.S. accurate indoor triangulation technology. With more than one million global users, the Navizon application allows individuals to map their locations and broadcast them to other devices of their choosing using the Buddy Radar. When a Navizon enabled device enters an I.T.S. site, the app seamlessly employs the node network to accurately determine the indoor location.

Ordering and installing the Navizon I.T.S. system is simple, fast and cost effective. Pricing of the system starts at $350/month per site and delivers priceless data. For more information, visit http://www.navizon.com

About Navizon, Inc. Developing Global Micropositioning technology, Navizon, Inc. is the creator of Navizon-One, a global positioning system combining GPS, Wi-Fi and cellular signals, and Navizon I.T.S., its accurate indoor location positioning system. Founded by a team of geolocation veterans, Navizon was the first company to add Wi-Fi and cellular triangulation to satellite-based GPS. The same team created the first I.P. address-based geolocation solution in the early 2000s Navizon develops geolocation solutions that allow businesses and individuals to maximize their technology to work and live more efficiently.
