County Creates Free App for Hurricane Evacuations
Lee County Emergency Management has released its first iPhone app. The "LeeEvac" app allows you to find your hurricane evacuation zone as well as real-time evacuation information during a hurricane.
The app is available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users.
"The ability to effectively inform people who may be required to evacuate is a critical part of protecting our community. The LeeEvac app uses familiar technology to provide personalized information to help people protect themselves and their loved ones," Gerald Campbell, Planning Chief, Lee County Emergency Management, was quoted as saying in a press release about the app.
"The app allows you to use your current GPS location, tap on the map, or search for an address within Lee County to see if you are in a active evacuation zone, at any time," stated Amy Hoyt, GIS Manager, Lee County GIS, was quoted as saying in a press release about the app.
An app for Android based systems will be available this fall.
The LeeEvac app is free and can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store. Search for LeeEvac.
