Discover Secrets From People Around You With The New Postsecret App
PostSecret, the on-going community art project created and curated by Frank Warren, that enables people to unburden and connect through the sharing of artful secrets, is available for the first time on iTunes as a mobile app. In addition to discovering and sharing artful secrets, users will be able to anonymously interact with other like-minded individuals in their region. The app never requires any personal information from any users and completely preserves anonymity. The app, which launched on September 3, has gained over 100,000 users and over 50,000 secrets have been posted from around the world.
The app puts the power of PostSecret, a cultural phenomenon including five New York Times bestselling books, art exhibits with multimedia presentations, a 2.1 million member online community and the PostSecret blog, which now boasts more than 8 million unique visitors every week, into the hands of the user for the first time. Users can easily and instantly share anonymous secrets with a photo and sentence and connect to others whose secret touches them. Each new platform of PostSecret generates a new set of secrets and continues to expand the reach of the PostSecret community.
“PostSecret covers every human emotion, from humor to heart-break, and from the very beginning of the project, people have wanted to reach out and connect to the people behind the secrets,” said Frank Warren, creator of PostSecret. “Sharing a secret and connecting with someone that has a similar secret provides a cathartic release for people to overcome loneliness. While the PostSecret app allows secret sharers to connect, they are doing so in a safe, anonymous and protected environment where no personal information exchanged.”
The PostSecret App was created in partnership with app agency Bonobo and with the assistance of 80,000 PostSecret community members. The community crowd-sourced guidelines to ensure that PostSecret App secrets be shared safely in a culture of openness and mutual respect. The community also assisted in developing the International Suicide Prevention Wiki (ISP Wiki), the most comprehensive and current listing of suicide prevention hotlines and “chat-lines” in the world. The ISP Wiki listings are available free for anyone to incorporate into other services so people can always find help and hope near them.
The PostSecret App is now available for download on iTunes for $1.99. Android will be available later this year. For more information please visit www.postsecretapp.com. To download the PostSecret app, please go to http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/postsecret/id457456040?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D2.
