Frontline Deploys CSR aptX® in Test Labs to Analyze Bluetooth® Wireless Sound Quality

Cambridge, UK and Sunnyvale, California, USA – 31st August 2012 – CSR plc (LSE: CSR; NASDAQ: CSRE) today announced that Frontline Test Equipment, one of the world’s largest Bluetooth protocol analysis and testing companies, has incorporated CSR’s aptX audio codec technology into its test and analysis arsenal. Frontline will use CSR aptX in its labs for its customers – which include many of the world’s top consumer electronics manufacturers – who wish to incorporate CSR aptX in end products to deliver the best possible Bluetooth wireless sound.

“We are finding an explosion of interest and demand among CE manufacturers and consumers alike for CD-quality wireless sound over Bluetooth; as a result, CSR aptX has been deployed in hundreds of products already this year,” said Anthony Murray, Business Group SVP of CSR. “Consumers expect products to work properly out-of-the-box, and this is where Frontline comes in, lab-testing manufacturers’ products to ensure all the technology and parts work together seamlessly and meet Bluetooth interoperability standards. We are gratified that Frontline has experienced such a high demand from manufacturers to test and include aptX in their products.”

CSR aptX has experienced an accelerated adoption rate as wireless listeners become more discriminating about quality. Other recent aptX milestones include deployments in products from Samsung, including tablets and headsets, as well as from HTC, Motorola, Nokia, Monster, Sennheiser, Creative, and hundreds of other aptX enabled products to be rolled out later this year and next. CSR aptX audio coding technology solves the problem of inferior Bluetooth audio quality, delivering improved, high-fidelity sound comparable to the CD quality consumers have come to expect from their electronic devices and home entertainment systems.
