G-Technology™ Announces Availability Of G-CONNECT™ Wireless Storage For Apple® iPad® And iPhone®
Known for delivering premium external storage solutions engineered to meet the needs of the Apple Mac® community, G-Technology today announced availability of its G-CONNECT wireless storage solution, the first in a family of products providing instant, wireless storage and 802.11n WiFi Internet access for your Apple iPad, iPhone®and many other mobile devices. The G-Technology G-CONNECT wireless storage solution is available in the UK now for £159.99 (500GB) through authorised retail and distribution channels.
The G-CONNECT solution provides on-the-go wireless access[1] to content that’s not already loaded on iOS devices, including favourite movies, music, books, photos and documents. G-CONNECT provides access to five+ simultaneous devices, depending on the workload, and supports up to five SD or three HD video streams at once[2].
When connected to a network via Ethernet, the G-CONNECT drive becomes a personal WiFi Internet access point, allowing users to view online content, while streaming stored content on the drive. Users can easily access content through the G-CONNECT iOS app, available now in the App Store®, or through a browser. Android® devices can access content through a web browser, with a native app available this summer.
“The ever-growing list of mobile devices has created user expectations that their favourite content ought to be available wherever they are. G-CONNECT is a great way to make that a reality. It lets people safely store a huge number of films or music tracks, at the same time enabling them to access and share content wherever they are,” said Steve Pereira, vice president, general manager, HGST Europe. “The device has proved to be an extremely popular G-Technology product in North America and we’re glad to be offering it in the UK.”

[1] G-CONNECT must be AC or DC powered.
[2] The streaming performance of the G-CONNECT is based upon expected available network bandwidth in real world conditions. Traffic on the local network or the presence of other wireless interference may result in less than perfect playback of content. While no explicit limits are placed on the number of devices, limiting the number of devices simultaneously using the G-CONNECT is suggested so that the user experience remains positive.
One GB is equal to one billion bytes and one TB equals 1,000 GB (one trillion bytes). Actual capacity will vary depending on operating environment and formatting.
G-Technology external hard drives serve as an element of an overall backup strategy. It is recommended that users keep two or more copies of their most important files backed up or stored on separate devices or online services.
