PocketHound Cell Phone Detector Awarded Popular Science Best of What's New

Berkeley Varitronics Systems, Inc. (BVS),  today announced the PocketHound Cell Phone Detector has been named a 2012 Best of What's New Award recipient by Popular Science in the Security category. PocketHound(TM) is a highly sensitive cell phone detector that is specifically tuned to the RF signature of all 2G/3G/4G cell phones. The receiver scans for any and all voice, texting and data transmissions and applies its unique auto-thresholding technology by comparing cellular measurements with the RF noise floor of that environment. This ensures that only genuine cell phone use (active or standby mode) will trigger the PocketHound(TM) with user selectable flashing LEDs and/or vibrating alerts. PocketHound(TM) detects all cellular RF activity within a 75 foot radius making it ideal for indoor use in areas where cellphone use is prohibited and illegal.

"For 25 years, Popular Science has honored the innovations that surprise and amaze us, those that make a positive impact on our world today and challenge our view of what's possible in the future." said Jacob Ward, Editor-in-Chief of Popular Science. "The Best of what's New Award is the magazine's top honor and the 100 winners, chosen from among thousands of entrants, each a revolution in its field."

PocketHound's size and weight are smaller than a pack of playing cards. It's internal lithium polymer battery and USB charging system allows up to 2 hours of continuous runtime without any need for direct operation or recharging. This allows the PocketHound(TM) to be covertly used in order to detect and identify the source of prohibited cell phone use. PocketHound(TM) was designed to target the recent proliferation of cell phone use in environments where data and information intergrity is critical.

"We are pleased to receive this award and recognition from Popular Science," says Scott Schober, BVS President & CEO. "The PocketHound continues to secure educational, financial and correctional facililties from unauthorizes, illegal and insecure use of cell phones."

PocketHound is designed and manufactured in the U.S.A. and available now directly from www.bvsystems.com for $499.
