CARTES 2012: G&D Presents Intelligent Security Solutions for Mobile Life
Munich, October 29, 2012 - Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) will be showcasing its latest innovations at CARTES 2012, the international trade show taking place in Paris from November 6-8. Under the motto “Securing Mobile Life”, G&D will present new solutions for making life in the digital world more secure. The Munich-based technology group intends to demonstrate how its mobile wallet solution, SmartTrust® PortigoTM, can turn a smartphone into a mobile wallet, and will also be highlighting its new NFC-enabled SIM card platform, SkySIM® CX. The secure multi-application SIMs have memory sizes of up to 1.3 megabytes, making it possible to run several different security-sensitive applications at the same time on a single SIM card. G&D will also be presenting their Trusted Service Manager (TSM), a solution that allows NFC-based payment applications to be introduced on a global scale. The company’s activities at the show will also focus on “Embedded SIM/Subscription Management” and “Trusted Execution Environment”.
Visitors to the trade show can obtain an overview of G&D’s product portfolio, displayed on a total of nine presentation areas, at Stand 4J 001 in Hall 4. The Munich-based technology group will be highlighting three topics in particular:

In NFC- and TSM-Services, G&D demonstrates the advantages of NFC applications for the end user. Service providers can become familiar with G&D’s TSM solutions, which ensure that over-the-air (OTA) transfer and personalizing of applications is as secure as possible.

In Embedded SIM and Subscription Management the focus this year lies on M2M communication (machine to machine), a rapidly growing sector of the mobile telecommunications market. Network operators and other customers will be able to obtain information on G&D’s subscription management solution, AirON™ , a system that activates and personalizes SIM cards in M2M devices over-the-air.

The trade show motto “Securing Mobile Life” is also represented by solutions dealing with all aspects of Trusted Execution Environment (TEE), for which G&D developed its high-security operating system MobiCore. This system runs in an isolated and secure part of the mobile processor in tandem with the standard OS found in smartphones. When combined with G&D’s secure elements, applications that must be protected can be processed entirely on their own in their own secure environment.
The range of products and solutions being shown by Giesecke & Devrient at CARTES 2012 also include OTA solutions for the secure management of SIM card data, configurations and applications. The company will be showcasing security solutions for accessing data stored in the Cloud, as well as products that offer simpler and more secure ways of buying tickets for public transport over short and long distances.
For its customers from government and public bodies, G&D will have a mobile verification system on display that allows security personnel to check document authenticity on the spot. G&D’s automated system for checking ID also makes border control a much more straightforward process. The HIGHSEC® border control system works using a reader for machine-readable ID documents, thus helping to dramatically reduce waiting times during border crossings.
