SkyWave Receives Regulatory Authorization in Russia

Ottawa, ON – SkyWave Mobile Communications, a global provider of wireless data communications for the Machine-to-Machine (M2M) market, today announced that its IsatData Pro satellite service has been authorized for operation in the territory of the Russian Federation.

“We are very pleased to add Russia to the growing list of countries where SkyWave IsatData Pro products are available,” said Dan Poirier, SkyWave Senior Vice President, Operations. “We look forward to increasing the distribution reach of our entire product and service offering in the Russian market by adding new, local M2M solution providers.”

SkyWave satellite services are provided through FSUE Morsviazsputnik for the territory of the Russian Federation. An operator of Land Earth Stations (LES) in the Inmarsat satellite communications system, Morsviazsputnik is also an Inmarsat Distribution Partner of I4 services, providing a wide range of communication and navigation services including mobile satellite communication services for all transport.

“Working with long term industry partners like SkyWave is key to our business success and IsatData Pro fills a gap in our portfolio that provides our customers the latest in M2M communication services to monitor and control assets,” said Andrey Kuropyatnikov, Director General for Federal State Unitary Enterprise (FSUE) “Morsviazsputnik”.

The regulatory authorization of IsatData Pro for the Russian market will open a number of new application opportunities for SkyWave, particularly targeted to industry sectors such as the transportation, mining, rail, heavy equipment and SCADA fixed assets. This latest regulatory authorization further extends SkyWave coverage within Russia, where the company has been actively selling and supporting customers since 2009.

IsatData Pro meets the increasing demand for richer information in M2M applications and allows businesses to share more data across diverse operations by delivering up to 10,000 bytes to the device and sending up to 6,400 bytes from the device by way of emails, electronic forms and workflow information. Applications include vehicle telemetry information, text-messaging remote workers, maintaining up-to-date driver logs, and the remote management and control of fixed assets.

SkyWave currently has customers with product deployments in over 75 countries in the world and continues to expand into new regions with the addition of new channels and solution providers.
