Manta Ray Detects Hidden Cell Phones That Are Turned Off
Berkeley Varitronics Systems, Inc. (BVS), a leading provider of advanced wireless test solutions and security products to the domestic and international wireless telecommunications industry, has released Manta Ray(TM) detector in an effort to search and seize contraband and unauthorized cell phones hidden inside a variety of materials that trick common metal detectors. Manta Ray(TM) will be demonstrated alongside Berkeley's popular PocketHound and Wolfhound-PRO cell phone detectors at this year's AJA and GovSec expos.
Manta Ray(TM) is a close-range, highly sensitive detector that specializes in identifying specific but common components found in all cell phones. This allows Manta Ray(TM) to "see" phones that are ACTIVE or INACTIVE, ON or OFF and even hidden behind walls and dense materials such as sheetrock, concrete and aluminum. This is an important distinction because most metal detectors in use today are falsely triggered by all metals while Manta Ray(TM) detects the presence of mobile phones through a variety of metals including aluminum, brass, copper and more. In the search for contraband cell phones in correctional facilities, this allows for swifter sweeps of both individuals and cells. In the case of unauthorized cell phones in both public and private facilities, Manta Ray(TM) provides a faster and much less intrusive way of searching for cell phones to enforce unauthorized cell phone use.
Manta Ray(TM) is designed to operate simply and effectively for any individual, both untrained and security trained personnel. The bright LCD screen and audible beep alerts the user to the possible presence of a cell phone. Power is provided by a standard, removable 9V battery lasting up to 3 hours of continuous operation.
"Manta Ray addresses a growing security problem in both the public and private sector - the ubiquity of cell phones. Never before has the need for speedy yet thorough searches for cell phones been in such high demand. Now with Manta Ray we are able to go places where most metal detectors fall short and detect cell phones not in use, turned OFF and even with the battery removed," Says Scott Schober, BVS President & CEO.
Manta Ray(TM) is designed and manufactured in the U.S.A. and available now directly from www.store.bvsystems.com for $499.
BVS will be demonstrating the Manta Ray(TM) along with many other wireless security and measurement products in BOOTH 703 at the AJA Expo in Grand Rapids, MI from May 5 - 7 and BOOTH 2420 at the GovSec Expo in Washington, D.C. From May 13 - 15.
