Posted by WDN, April 05, 2002

InfoSpace chairing or co-chairing Messaging, Downloadable Content, Location and Presence and Billing Action Committees for CTIA Wireless Internet Council

InfoSpace, Inc. (Nasdaq:INSP), a provider of wireless and Internet software and application services, today announced the company's active participation in the recently formed CTIA Wireless Internet Caucus (WIC) Leadership Council and Action Committees.

In a press release issued by CTIA on February 26, 2002 (http://www.wow-com.com/news/press/body.cfm?record_id=1038), InfoSpace was identified as one of a small group of influential companies, including the top six U.S. wireless carriers and a select group of key software infrastructure providers and application developers, chosen to sit on the WIC Leadership Council. The WIC Leadership Council established the seven WIC Action Committees to identify and address key issues in the areas of messaging, downloadable content, location and presence, privacy and security, billing, internetworking and the enterprise.

"The CTIA Wireless Internet Caucus Leadership Council is comprised of companies actively helping to define the future of mobile data services in the U.S.," said Tom Wheeler, president and CEO of CTIA. "We are pleased at the high level of participation from the esteemed leadership council members, such as InfoSpace, and are extremely optimistic that this council has the vision to take the industry to a whole new level."

"We applaud CTIA's efforts to bring key industry leaders together to address these important issues and are pleased to be playing a prominent role in the CTIA Wireless Internet Council," said Jan Claesson, InfoSpace executive vice president, wireless. "Wireless data services are deployed through a series of complicated and interdependent relationships between numerous organizations at different points in the value chain. One of the critical success factors for the industry is to begin to establish a framework by which these entities can work with one another to offer the end-user a wireless data experience that is seamless, personalized and engaging."
