  • Digital Dispatch
  • Digital Dispatch Announces 2.5G Wireless Technology Interface Developed for the MC1700

Posted by WDN, April 05, 2002

Richmond, BC, April 5, 2002 - Digital Dispatch Systems Inc., a global provider of turnkey wireless mobile data solutions headquartered in Richmond, British Columbia, announced today that it has successfully integrated an embedded General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) module within its industry-leading Windows® CE-based MC1700 mobile computer ("MC1700").

This significant development is the first step in Digital Dispatch's wireless network strategy to offer alternative network solutions for all its mobile devices, infrastructure, and application software. This GPRS-enabled MC1700 is perfectly positioned for all of Digital Dispatch's OEM customers that want to take advantage of these high-speed networks for all their wireless data applications.

Digital Dispatch selected GPRS for its worldwide availability, high-speed wireless connectivity, and its 'always-on' capability. To meet the needs of Digital Dispatch's traditional taxi, limo and courier customers, the Company will be deploying GPRS throughout its entire suite of mobile devices to meet the needs of the worldwide market. With this new development, Digital Dispatch will provide an alternative efficient dispatch system solution for smaller taxi, courier and limo dispatch companies who do not have their own Private Mobile Radio infrastructure or who wish to take advantage of these new high speed data networks.

An added benefit will be that the solution will offer the Company's OEM customers the possibility of developing new applications. "The development of GPRS within the MC1700 is a significant accomplishment for Digital Dispatch," comments Vanson Field, Product Manager, Devices. "It is the first step in evolving our wireless network capabilities to support 3G wireless networks in the future." This MC1700 GPRS solution will provide Digital Dispatch's global OEM customers the high-speed wireless connectivity required to develop sophisticated applications suited for the demanding mobile environment.
