MGM MIRAGE Offers Consumers Wireless Internet Access To Its Resort-Casino Sites
Posted by WDN, April 30, 2002
-- First U.S.
Gaming Company to Offer the Service - Consumers Can Book Accommodations at Six Las Vegas
Resorts
MGM MIRAGE (NYSE: MGG) announced today it is the first
U.S. gaming company to offer wireless Internet access to several of its resorts-casino websites. Customers can now book room reservations
at six of the company's Las Vegas resorts, as well as access information about gaming, entertainment, dining, spas, golf and other hotel
services all via wireless devices including web-enabled cell phones and personal digital assistants.
Wireless Internet access provides anytime and anywhere convenience for customers to access information. For example, a business traveler
at a Las Vegas convention can use a WAP phone to retrieve information about a restaurant at Bellagio and review the entertainment line-up
offered at MGM Grand. A leisure traveler can use a Palm pilot to retrieve spa services available at The Mirage and review hours of
operation and ticket prices for the Manhattan Express Rollercoaster featured at New York-New York.
"This technology offers our guests another convenient tool to book accommodations and inquire about the wide array of offerings and
attractions at our premier resorts," said Bill Hornbuckle, President of MGM MIRAGE Online.
The MGM MIRAGE properties in Las Vegas participating include MGM Grand, Bellagio, The Mirage, Treasure Island, New York-New
York and Golden Nugget. The wireless service is provided by Beverly, Mass.-based Maxiom Mobile Technologies, Inc.
"At Maxiom, we provide convenience to our clients and their customer base," said Charlie Xie, Maxiom President. "Companies can easily
deploy our services without the need for any programming work or modification in their IT systems. In addition, our client's customers can
enjoy the convenience of wirelessly accessing hotel and casino information whenever and wherever they want it, which improves customer
satisfaction and attracts new customers."
