QUALCOMM Launches
BREW Developer Alliance Program to Speed Creation of Wireless Applications,
Services and Solutions

BREW Developer Alliance Program Helps Developers Create and Deploy Wireless Applications Faster and
Easier than Ever
QUALCOMM Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital
wireless technology, today announced its BREW(TM) Developer Alliance Program for developers creating applications and services
based on QUALCOMM's Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless(TM) (BREW) platform, a thin applications environment for wireless
devices. The BREW Developer Alliance Program is designed to speed the creation of wireless applications by providing developers with
technical training and support, product development guidance, and marketing assistance.
The program demonstrates QUALCOMM's support and commitment to the wireless application development community. Interested
developers can learn more about the program at http://www.qualcomm.com/brew/developer/.
The BREW platform was introduced by QUALCOMM earlier this year to allow rapid development of a wide variety of applications
that users will be able to download from carrier networks over the air onto any BREW-enabled handset. The BREW platform provides a
standard programming environment, so software developers can simply integrate their applications to the BREW platform once,
effectively eliminating the need to modify applications for each new device model. BREW platform services are expected to be launched
by the end of 2001 with Korea Telecom Freetel (KTF) in Korea and Verizon Wireless in the United States.
Since the introduction of the BREW platform, QUALCOMM has worked to provide developers with the tools and training they need
to take advantage of the platform's flexibility and speed-to-market benefits. The launch of the Developer Alliance Program is
QUALCOMM's next step in supporting developers for the BREW platform.
"The BREW Developer Alliance Program is meant to build a thriving developer community -- efficiently creating wireless applications
that consumers want," said Jan Lezny, senior director of developer relations for QUALCOMM Internet Services. "This program gives
developers the access, service and support they need to meet their aggressive development timelines. We're focused on building a
program that offers a constant flow of valuable resources to developers."
BREW Developer Alliance Program Resources
The BREW Developer Alliance Program Web site will speed development of applications for the BREW platform by helping
developers easily share information with each other and leverage expert advice from QUALCOMM. Upon joining the BREW Developer
Alliance Program, members gain instant access to discussion groups, expert tips, tutorials, a repository of frequently asked technical
questions, technical support and downloadable BREW development tools -- including the BREW Software Development Kit(TM)
(SDK) and the ARM(R) BREW Builder software.
Beyond online support, members will also have access to phone labs for testing BREW applications on multiple handset models and
assistance in marketing their applications to carriers and consumers.
