iANYWHERE SOLUTIONS TOPS MOBILE DATABASE MARKET FOR SIXTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

SYNOPSIS: New research from Gartner Dataquest finds that iAnywhere Solutions holds 73 percent of the mobile database market.

Mobile DBMS giant Sybase was able to increase its share of the market from 68 percent in 2000 to 73 percent in 2001. As the global economy slowly pulls out of recession, the mobile DBMS market is expected to pick up fairly rapidly. Gartner is predicting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of over 16 percent through 2006. This will cause the market to more than double, from slightly under $70 million in 2001 to around $150 million in 2006.
