Neomar Releases New Versions of Server and
Microbrowser Software for Wireless Handhelds
Posted by WDN, Feb. 27, 2002
Software offers over-the-air real-time updates to
data, application integration
Neomar, a
leading developer of wireless enterprise software
solutions, today announced enhanced versions of the
company's Neomar Enterprise Server (NES) software and
Neomar Microbrowser with Intelligent Client Engine(tm)
(ICE) for wireless handheld devices. The new releases
include over-the-air real-time data support for
handheld devices and other enhancements that improve
the performance and value of enterprise applications
deployed on Palm OS, Pocket PC, J2ME, and RIM
BlackBerry handhelds. The new Neomar software is
available immediately.
Enhancements to the Neomar Microbrowser and Neomar
Enterprise Server v. 3.1 include improved support for
offline forms and data, and APIs (application
programming interfaces) enabling applications to share
real-time data as it is received by the device,
transparently in the background and via programmable
alerts.
The enhanced features enable enterprise users to
interact with corporate applications on an
intermittently available basis, whether the users are
in or out of coverage, and integrate over-the-air data
updates to make those applications more accurate,
useful, and convenient for mobile workers.
"The enhancements to the Neomar Enterprise Server and
Neomar Microbrowser with ICE are all very
user-focused," said John Troyer, Neomar's Chief
Strategy Officer. "By linking browsing and alerts with
applications and forms already on users' devices, the
NES can now send data to mobile workers transparently
whenever they're in coverage, and the Microbrowser
with ICE will make that data available in its most
convenient form. Enterprise handheld users have new
ways of maximizing productivity 24x7."
"We believe that both enterprise software developers
and internal corporate developers will appreciate
these new features," said Martin Buhr, Vice President
of Business Development at Neomar. "The focus of these
releases is to enable developers to create
applications that take advantage of always-available,
always-updated data on enterprise users' handhelds,
and to make sure that the data is 100% secure. With
these features, Neomar's software opens up a whole new
world of possibilities for wireless application
delivery and integration."
The enhanced features are available to corporate and
third-party developers through Neomar's recently
expanded developer program. The program assists
developers in creating and testing applications
compatible with Neomar's popular server and handheld
software, including Palm OS, Pocket PC, J2ME, and all
RIM BlackBerry wireless handheld devices. The
Microbrowser with ICE supports such advanced features
as push alerts, background push, and off-line
availability of saved pages and forms, all of which
are critical to enhancing the productivity of mobile
workers accessing enterprise applications remotely.
