Group to Bring 7th Annual International Conference On Wearable Computing to COMDEX
Chicago

Xybernaut MA(R)V Wearable Computers To Be Used For Attendee Registration, Roving Research Activities and Data
Gathering
Key3Media Group, Inc. (NYSE: KME) and Xybernaut(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: XYBR) announced today that the 7th
annual International Conference on Wearable Computing (ICWC) will be an integral part of COMDEX Chicago, March 5-7,
2002. The COMDEX Chicago/ICWC events will be held at the McCormick Place conference facility located at 2301 S.
Lake Shore Drive.
ICWC will be a full COMDEX conference program held over three days and will include interactive workshops, a
keynote by Xybernaut chairman, president and CEO Edward G. Newman, presentations by industry analysts, media and
influencers and discussions involving solutions providers and value added resellers. This is the first year Xybernaut has held
the ICWC during COMDEX Chicago.
In a related agreement, Key3Media will replace a number of stationary kiosk computers with Xybernaut MA V wearable
computers. These units will be worn by event staff to perform many tasks, including attendee registration (queue-busting),
roving research on the show floor, on-site coordination, and various other types of data gathering among attendees, exhibitors
and presenters.
"With its emphasis on eMobility, COMDEX Chicago represents an excellent opportunity for Xybernaut to bring wearable
computing technologies to a much broader community through an expanded ICWC," said JB Rauch, vice president of
marketing, Xybernaut Corporation. "We're looking forward to talking with industry experts, business decision-makers,
customers and potential partners to discuss and shape the future of wearable computing."
A number of industry analysts have stated that the potential market for wearable and mobile computing technologies is
expected to grow rapidly in the coming decade. The Gartner Group recently (October 8, 2001) stated that wearable
computing is one of four key emerging technology trends for the next decade (see
http://www3.gartner.com/5_about/press_releases/2001/pr20011009a.html). According to the April 17, 2001 Gartner Group
Research Note, Wearing it Out: The Growth of the Wireless, Wearable World, "By 2007, more than 60 percent of the
European Union and U.S. populations aged 15 to 50 will carry or wear a wireless computing and communications device at
least six hours a day." The report also emphasizes a dramatic increase to 75 percent of these populations by 2010.
"Innovation is a critical component of COMDEX," said Bob Bierman, vice president and general manager, COMDEX
Chicago. "Xybernaut's sponsorship of The International Conference on Wearable Computing at COMDEX Chicago will
offer attendees a glimpse into real-life and potential uses for wearable computing solutions in business as well as general
consumer applications."
