Posted by WDN, June 14, 2002
WASHINGTON, Jun 14, 2002 - Two worldwide leaders in the spectacular growth of Wi-Fi uses have joined the WCA
2002 panel on June 26 in Boston: "Hot Spot Pioneers Adapt Local Networks To Nomadic/Mobile Uses," the Wireless Communications Association (WCA)
announced today as pre-registration passed 1,000 for the show.
They are Clark Dong, CEO & Co-Founder of hereUare Communications, and Adam Sewall, Entrepreneur-in-Residence for ComVentures. hereUare (
http://www.hereuare.com ) is pioneering Unified Wireless Access, enabling users to use laptop computers to connect to the Internet at high speeds when on
the move. hereUare is dedicated to making wireless Internet access simple and widely available, working with leading Service Providers and equipment
vendors to ensure connecting to the Internet becomes a routine part of your travel itinerary or daily schedule. ComVentures ( http://www.comventures.com )
is a venture capital firm whose partners all have hands-on experience in the communications industry. It has consistently uncovered ground-breaking
communications technologies, helped lead and grow its portfolio companies, and assisted these companies in deploying new technologies in an ever-changing
marketplace. Some notable early-stage investments have included Octel, AOL, Polycom, Broadcom, UUNET and MCI.
As the 'hot spot' phenomenon in license exempt Wi-Fi networks takes hold around the world, Panel Moderator Dr. Mohammad Shakouri, Assistant Vice
President of Alvarion ( http://www.alvarion.com ), led the way in assembling a world-class session, whose earlier participants were reported previously. iPass
Inc. ( http://www.ipass.com ), a leading provider of secure, remote connectivity services to over 600 carriers and ISPs worldwide, will be represented by
Vice President for Marketing John Russo. Also joining the panel is Dr. William Lehr, Associate Director of the MIT Research Program on Internet and
Telecoms Convergence ( http://itc.mit.edu ), which recently became a WCA member. He is author of, among other relevant topics, an important recent study
comparing Wi-Fi, and proposed 3G and ultra-wideband networks.
