Pixo Launches Wireless Java Alliance Initiative to Bring Operators and Application Developers Together
Posted by WDN, March 25, 2002
Pixo, Inc. (www.pixo.com), a leading provider of platforms for wireless Java downloading for mobile devices, announces its Pixo Wireless Java Alliance for wireless Java developers who want to make their applications available to mobile operators throughout the world.
Through the Pixo Wireless Java Alliance, top applications for Java-enabled devices will be made available to wireless operators directly through on-going system trials as well as through promotional events. The Pixo Mobile Download Server is a highly scalable, platform-independent server solution that enables operators to drive revenue by delivering and managing personalized, over-the-air (OTA) wireless Java applications and more.
"The wireless Java industry is being propelled by new Java-enabled phones entering the market in 2002 and by operators upgrading their infrastructure to handle application downloads," said Sami Lababidi, CTO of Macrospace LTD. "The Pixo Wireless Java Alliance provides us a platform for getting our applications in front of the right audience, and has given us valuable resources to improve our relationships in the industry."
"As mobile operators launch their data service offerings, now is the time for developers and operators to come together to provide the very best wireless Java applications available," said Mark Grandcolas, vice president of strategic alliances at Pixo. "We are providing solutions to mobile operators who need compelling applications to their Average Revenue Per User (ARPU)."
Operators throughout the world benefit from this program by leveraging the database of existing tried-and-true games and wireless Java applications that Pixo has tested via its relationships with developers. Pixo provides operators an "out-of-the-box" system, complete with the mobile download provisioning technology and back-end management solutions with their Mobile Download Server. Through Pixo's Wireless Java Alliance, operators eliminate the need to search for compelling applications and content, which simplifies trial and deployment, thereby driving usage and revenue.
"The Pixo Wireless Java Alliance offers us a chance to present our applications and have them tested in a highly scrutinized environment," said Indu Lakshmy Lal, CTO, Softex Computer Consultants. "This partnership has provided us with a bridge to the operator, which is necessary as we continue to develop wireless Java applications for the global marketplace."
