FUJI ELECTRIC SELECTS ALIGO AS MOBILE MIDDLEWARE STANDARD FOR B2B, B2E CLIENTS IN JAPAN
Posted by WDN, May 24, 2002
Aligo M-1 Server will mobilize Fuji employees, corporate
customers
Tokyo and San Francisco - May 22, 2002 - Fuji Electric Co. Ltd and Aligo
Inc., the leading provider of Java(tm)- based mobile application server
software, today announced that Fuji Electric has selected Aligo M-1
Mobile Application Server as its corporate-wide standard for mobile
applications. The announcement was made by Fuji Electric President
Kunihiko Sawa.
Fuji Electric will use M-1 Mobile Applications Server as its development
and deployment platform to mobile-enable its current
business-to-business and business-to-employee software applications such
as its enterprise workflow product ExchangeUSE. By integrating M-1
Server into its suite of business solutions, Fuji will enable both its
employees and its corporate customers to access data and applications --
including e-mail, time and attendance, document sharing, and calendaring
-- from any mobile device.
As a distributor of Aligo M-1 Mobile Application Server, and through its
group companies such as Fuji Denki Sousetsu and Fuji Denki Systems, Fuji
will offer a range of consumer and corporate customers ways to mobilize
data and applications.
"It is clear that the mobile communications market in Japan is rapidly
moving into the business-to-business space as well as maintaining a
strong business-to-consumer market," said Sawa. "As an innovator in
Japan, Fuji Electric intends to be a leader in both areas. We selected
Aligo's software because it provides a highly scalable and reliable
solution that will allow us to provide our customers with advanced
mobile technology very quickly."
Aligo M-1 Mobile Application Server provides a platform that combines
mobile application development and deployment in a write once, deploy
anywhere package. The software makes it possible for developers to
design and deploy wireless enterprise applications in less than a few
weeks, not months or a year. The M-1 Server runs on any J2EE-compatible
software platform, such as BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, or Sun ONE
servers.
"This partnership with Fuji Electric is another positive step in Japan
for Aligo," said Alper Turgut, Aligo president and co-founder. "By
securing this agreement with Fuji Electric, Aligo's technology is
validated by a major company in one of the most competitive and
respected wireless markets in the world, and Fuji demonstrates its
leadership and understanding that wireless applications will help
companies cut costs and become even more competitive."
