Dell enters PDA Arena With the Axim(TM) X5 Handheld

Dell will officially throw their hat into the ring as a player in the PDA market next week when they commence
shipping a new PDA - The Axim(TM) X5 Handheld. The device is expected to hit the market on November 18, 2002.
The Dell Axim X5 features Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 and will enable users to Access the Web with wireless technology;
Use pocket versions of popular Microsoft applications, such as Pocket
OutlookŪ , Pocket Excel, Pocket Word, and Pocket Internet Explorer;
and record voice notes or listen to audio files.
Leading industry research firm Gartner expects Dell to be able to grab about 25 per cent of the worldwide
PDA market next year with its new product. 2 models are expected; both take advantage of the Intel XScale microprocessor with one model
running at 300 MHz having 32 MB RAM, a second model at 400 MHz with 64 MB RAM.
Consumers should expect to pay roughly $250 and $350 for the devices.
