Antepo and mov Software Partner to Release Jabber-Based Messaging and Presence Solution for the
PocketPC Platform -- Companies Announce Cooperation in the Field of Real-Time Messaging and
Presence Services
Posted by WDN, October 16, 2001
Antepo, Inc., a leading provider of open mobile messaging, announces that it has added
another access channel to its Jabber-based integrated presence and real-time messaging offering. The move leverages the ever-growing PocketPC user-base
while it anticipates wireless networks' migration to 3G and widespread adoption of WiFi (802.11b) technology. Gartner Group predicts PocketPCs will account
for more than 30% of the PDA market by 2003. IDC highlights the better opportunity for PocketPC to make inroads to large corporate customers.
"We welcome the opportunity to contribute to Jabber's extension into the mobile workplace", announces Stephen Pendleton, President of mov Software. "Our
expertise in the field of PocketPC development will complement Antepo's numerous accomplishments in the space."
Corporations are adopting Instant Messaging particularly in businesses where activities and transactions are time-sensitive. Almost half of people surveyed on
the job by InsightExpress say that messaging can replace a phone call, and 35 percent say they use it instead of e-mail. The most popular services are AOL,
MSN, Yahoo and ICQ, all of which can be accessed on-the-move through a single secure interface thanks to Antepo's solution.
"I think everyone in the marketplace recognizes the increasing importance of the PocketPC platform as a serious alternative to other handheld technologies,"
says Vincent Toesca, Vice-President of Marketing for Antepo. "mov Software will benefit from the accelerated time-to-market brought by Antepo. It helps grow
our reputation in the business space. We have received significant interest already for this solution and look forward to deploying it on a wide scale."
