posted by WDN (editor@wirelessdevnet.com), April 30, 2003
Nokia 3650 and 7650 imaging phone users can now use the popular My
AvantGo® service to access over 2,500 channels of news, sports, weather,
entertainment, travel info and more.
London, England - Symbian Exposium03 - iAnywhere Solutions, a subsidiary of
Sybase, Inc. (NYSE:SY), and Nokia (NYSE:NOK), the global leader in mobility,
today announced that the My AvantGo® service is now available to Nokia imaging
phone users, marking the first availability of My AvantGo for wireless devices
based on the Symbian operating system. As of today, users of the Nokia 3650 and
7650 imaging phones will be able to access more than 2,500 channels of the
world's foremost news, weather, sports, entertainment and other content and
applications. Users can download the free software for accessing mobile Web
content via My AvantGo at www.myavantgo.com.
The new Series 60 based Nokia 3650 imaging phone is a complete tool for
capturing and sharing experiences. Users can take pictures or video with the
built-in camera, as well as tailor the functionality of the Nokia 3650 phone by
downloading My AvantGo applications and content. With the My AvantGo
"synchronize and go" model, the service offers Nokia 3650 users an improved
experience for capturing and viewing web content. For more information on the
Nokia 3650 visit www.forum.nokia.com/3650.
The Series 60 is a software platform consisting of key telephony and personal
information management applications, browser, messaging clients and a complete
and modifiable user interface. The software platform is optimized to run on top of
Symbian OS(TM), and is designed for smartphones characterized by color
screens, rich communications and enhanced applications.
Users can personalize their content from over 2,500 channels and then use
AvantGo's synchronization functionality to wirelessly deliver an updated package
of content to their device. After synchronization, users can quickly browse
through the pages that are stored locally on their device - even when they are
disconnected from the network. Alternatively, the My AvantGo service offers
real-time browsing to any web site and the ability for users to set up their own
"custom channels," such as their own personal websites, that can be delivered
during synchronization.
"The AvantGo Client software coupled with the My AvantGo service brings an
exciting combination to users of the Nokia imaging phones. The delivery of the My
AvantGo service enables our customers to access a great variety of content and
information when and where they need it," said Randy Roberts, General Manager
- Imaging Business Unit at Nokia.
"Now Series 60 imaging phone users can get content from their favorite web sites
quickly and easily on their mobile phones, and experience why My AvantGo is the
number one mobile device application. With nearly eight million registered users,
My AvantGo provides a compelling value proposition to Nokia Series 60 imaging
phone users," added Ojas Rege, senior director of product marketing for
iAnywhere Solutions. "Our goal with My AvantGo is to provide the most useful
content to the widest audience possible, and we expect adding the users of the
Nokia imaging phones to our service will significantly expand our user base."
In addition to providing valuable end-user content and applications on mobile
devices, My AvantGo is the most robust and scalable mobile solution for
businesses interested in broadening and deepening their customer relationships.
The My AvantGo service enables businesses to build brand awareness, acquire
new customers, reduce customer care costs and generate incremental revenue
by becoming more integrated into their customers' lives and providing their

devices. My AvantGo has helped to develop and launch thousands of successful
advertising, media and marketing campaigns designed for mobile users.
