Subject: Re: MobileLBSList: PalmOS/PocketPC DB Applications
Date:  08/29/2000 10:05:59 PM
From:  Bryan Morgan

Greetings down under! There are a number of tools on the market for you to
evaluate:

Pumatech Satellite Forms - http://www.pumatech.com
@Hand Mobile Application Environment - http://www.@hand.com
Aether ScoutSync - http://www.aethersystems.com

WirelessDevNet will be publishing a Satellite Forms tutorial tomorrow so
check back on the site then. Basically, all of the tools above allow you to
develop apps for PalmOS and Windows CE using the same code and support
database syncs to Access or enterprise databases such as Oracle.

Bryan

> My name is Alistair Hart from Queensland Health (State Government Agency)
in Australia. We deal with Dengue Fever (a mosquito borne disease) and are
examining Pocket PC's/PalmOrganizers as a data collection tool for our field
workers during outbreak conditions. We currently have a comprehensive
relational Access 97 (SR2) database which we would like to sychronise with
a(ny) database on Pocket PC/PalmOrganizers.

2nd entry into desktop in Office and also better data integrity/quality -
from less human error. We also want to be able to access the information
the same day (but not at real time - too expensive) for querying and
preparation of the next days mozzie control
> work (ie: return from field, sync data and then query it in Access on the
desktop ready for mapping).
