Subject: RE: MobileLBSList: MMS bigger than SMS?
Date:  06/25/2002 11:11:11 PM
From:  Pravesh Khokhar

Well my opinion on MMS & SMS is simply that SMS w'd be BREAD and MMS w'd be
BUTTER in days to come. And a conglomeration of the two w'd definetely lead
to exciting services. However market for MMS and users of MMS w'd be limited
to a certain band of people and w'd not be so common due to cumbersome
handsets and cost issues.

Thanks.

I have just read this in an article in 3G Mobile

"As the launch of MMS gathers pace in Europe and Asia, Ericsson last week
outlined a rosy picture for the likely uptake of the service. MMS will be
"larger than SMS" in terms of the number of messages sent in 2005, according
to Per Lindblad, head of Ericsson's MMS."

At IBC's MMS Congress last year, there were varying forecasts, but none were
this bold.

Is this yet more hype, or will MMS overshadow SMS?

I'd be interested to hear some views

Thanks
