Subject: Wireless Dev: Morpheme product release
Date:  06/16/2000 01:52:25 PM
From:  Bryan Morgan

Here's the PR for a product from Morpheme. Something like this could be
used to build maps or charts on the fly for distribution to a phone.

Morpheme (www.Morpheme.co.uk) announces the initial release of its dynamic
WAP graphics system 'Dwbmp'.

Originally designed to form part of its tool architecture for generating WAP
and wireless-based games, the textual creation module of Morpheme's dynamic
WAP graphics system has been released for public use.

Designed to dynamically render text strings using a series of custom
designed fonts, this module of Dwbmp can be utilised to add a more
interesting look to WAP pages, currently dominated with plain textual
content.

The public version of Dwbmp is designed for use by individuals creating
personal WAP sites allowing: banners, headlines and any other dynamically
generated textual content to be included in WAP pages simply by including a
call as part of an image tag.

The commercial, licensed version of the library offers more features such
as: customisation of fonts, off-line creation of images, cropping, clipping
and basic image composition (displaying text over another image). It is
expected to be available from late June.

Dwbmp is written entirely in Java and requires version 1.1 or greater of Sun
's Java Runtime Environment. Rendering dynamic content on-line also requires
a web server and servlet engine implementing version 2.0 or greater of the
Java Servlet API.
