Subject: MobileLBSList: about location based services
Date:  10/30/2000 08:40:03 AM
From:  anuraj

Hi Everyone

To start with, I would like to make my personal opinion about the article
that has slammed the wireless web. Though the wireless world has still many
obstructions to clear, I foresee a very bright future in this evolving
technology. Lets make this technology a grand success

My query starts here:

I am planning to work on the project related to Mobile Location Based
Services. I have recently downloaded the Ercission SDK for mobile
positioning but I have no clue on how to start with that SDK. I will feel
gratefeul if all of you can share your invaluable opinions to my questions:

1. Is it wise to learn J2ME to work on Mobile Positioning System or WML and
WMLScripts?

2. Due to the limited bandwidth and processing speed of Handheld devices, It
is very difficult to do any sort of spatial calculation in your devices. So
if you do the heavy spatial calculation in the dedicated server at the
service provider end, how will you provide the content of the query such as
Map
Query to your handheld device??? I want to know how far GML(geographic
markup language) is successful in Handheld devices??

3. Can anybody suggest me the useful web links for learning about J2ME and
GML??

Thanking in advance

Anuraj
