Saw this today and suddenly discovered what we need to be focusing on.....
The word is out that in this case MapInfo and its Oracle 8i PDA technology is a year ahead of ESRI and the others for 2.5G+ infrastructure and mobile mapping. Also I heard that the fastest growth for the under 25 crowd over Japan's DoCoMo are phones with cameras for wireless instant photography! Next will be spatial photos.

Kirvan Pierson, MapInfo's Beijing-based territory manager for the greater China region, said: "When you know where somebody is, and what's around them, you can tailor and offer services personalized for them." AT&T, Sprint and MCI of the United States, Australia's Telstra, Japan's NTT DoCoMo, and all five of Britain's mobile-service operators are using MapInfo's Java-based solutions, but there are no telecoms companies providing location-based services in Hong Kong or greater China. Happy New Year
