Subject: Wireless Dev: Question For List + Note About HTML Emails + Palm Mobile Internet Kit
Date:  06/29/2000 08:06:28 AM
From:  Bryan Morgan

Two items for today:

(1) One member of the list's message was rejected so he forwarded his
question to me. If anyone would be kind enough to answer this question, I'd
appreciate it. He wanted to know if there were any WAP design/development
tools for the Solaris platform. He's using Solaris 2.6.

(2) A couple of you have emailed me saying your messages were rejected.
Most likely, it is because you sent HTML-formatted emails. Our mailer
software rejects attachments and certain MIME types sent to the list. This
is to eliminate the chance of viruses spreading to the list (or being sent
to the list!). Also, we are putting the finishing touches on an
online-viewable and -searchable archive. If you send your messages
formatted as HTML, the online viewers will see HTML code which makes it
pretty hard to read. In the future, remember to only send text
messages...if that's doesn't work, please let me know!

One other note for our European friends who've been interested in the Palm
VII or wireless PalmOS access. Palm just released a Mobile Internet Kit
(http://www.wirelessdevnet.com/news/2000/179/news3.html) which allows a Palm
device to be connected via infrared or a cable to a GSM phone. Pretty cool!
I think I read that the kit will cost about $50.

Thanks!

Bryan
