Subject: Re: Wireless Dev: Jakob Nielsen on WAP
Date:  07/21/2000 09:15:14 PM
From:  Hung-Hsien Chang

I don't think the carriers or any giant company would rather
risk the possibility of being left behind this time as they
did once a few years back in the internet arena.

So I gusss the warning is good but it is not going to be
taken too seriously by major players. WAP is not great, yes,
but what do you want for now? (Though I have my speculation
but I will keep it for now.) I believe (and sincerely hopy)
the manufacturers are well aware of the need for the size of screen
and fineness of pixels. And WAP 1.4 ( I think 1.3 is undergoing.)
will be so much different from its predecessor and so familiar
to the HTML we know about.

Palm is NOT that popular in Europe and certainly not Asia.
In Europe, EPOC is more well known. In Asia, I don't know.
(hell, I hope it is not Window CE.)

All the best,

Hubert
